Undertaker Appears On ‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ Talks WWE Drug Testing

WWE legend and fan-favorite wrestler Undertaker was recently a guest on the Joe Rogan Experience, where he spoke about a wide variety of topics. During the talk, Undertaker touched on how WWE conducts its drug testing, and what the WWE Wellness Policy exactly entails, and how it works for superstars of all kinds.

When asked about the policy and how the company goes about performing drug tests, Undertaker explained that his role as “Legend” meant that he wasn’t appearing as much, but still needed four mandatory tests done throughout the year. Before I switched my contracts and now, I’m not a talent, I’m a Legend, or whatever they call it,” he said (transcription via Post Wrestling’s John Pollock). “I’d only work two or three times per year, this was at the end of my career, but I was still under a regular contract. Under a regular contract, you have to have four mandatory tests – four mandatory piss tests and two blood tests every year.”

Undertaker went on to discuss how the drug testing works, and just how on top of everything WWE is. “Well, they’d get to the end of the year, it would be December going into Christmas and I’d get a call, “Uh, you need to go to such and such lab for a piss test” and I hadn’t been in a ring for six or seven months but they, “oh shit, we forgot about him”, you’ve got have those piss tests. Okay, well that’s three and then, sure enough, the next day, I’d get another phone call “go back to the lab” and I’d have to go two days in a row to get tested to make sure I have everything.

Thankfully, the WWE seems to be very on top of making sure superstars are regularly testing for various drugs, and it’s good to see that even legendary figures who may not be performing as much are still subject to tests to make sure nothing is wrong. It wasn’t too long ago that the WWE Wellness Policy didn’t seem to extend to such figures, so it’s good to see that everyone is now covered by the same rules.
