NXT UK TakeOver Cardiff Results (8/30) – New Champion Crowned, Cesaro’s Open Challenge, Bate vs. WALTER

Toni Storm (c) vs. Kay Lee Ray

Ray showboats a bit before Storm has enough and hits a suicide dive. Storm connects with some forearm shots and whips Ray into the barricade, then they re-enter the ring and Ray avoids Storm Zero before slapping her opponent. Ray connects with some kicks and chops before choking Storm on the ropes, then she whips Storm into the corner and connects with a chop.

Ray hits a snapmare takeover and connects with a gourdbuster suplex for two, then she goes back to slapping Storm in the head. Storm fires right back with some slaps of her own, followed by some more forearm shots and a clothesline off of a missed dive. Storm hits a German suplex and sets up Storm Zero again, but Ray counters with a Gory Bomb attempt, only to have Storm hit Code Red for two. Storm comes off of a rollup attempt by Ray with a head butt and successfully hits Storm Zero for two.

Ray goes for a Gory Bomb and gets two, then sets up in the corner and slaps her opponent. Storm ends up blocking Ray’s turnbuckle attempt and hits a German suplex, but Ray breaks the count by getting her feet on the ropes. Storm kicks Ray through the ropes and hits a suicide dive, but Ray comes right back with a knee to the head on the apron. Ray splashes Storm from the turnbuckles, then they head back inside and Storm throws a headbutt. Ray ends up hitting a Gory Bomb in the corner, and follows with a second one for the win.

WALTER (c) vs. Tyler Bate

Bate tries to keep WALTER moving and throws some kicks, but WALTER uses his strength to gain the advantage after a knuckle lock tie up. WALTER sends Bate in to the corner and connects with some forearm shots, but Bate comes back with some strikes of his own. WALTER takes Bate down again, but Bate is able to get WALTER on the mat. WALTER connects with a shoulder tackle and a back body drop, and Bate hits a shoulder tackle but WALTER doesn’t sell it. Bate ends up coming back with another slam and tackle that gets WALTER through the ropes and out to the floor, and Bate goes up for a dropkick. WALTER shoves him back but Bate comes back with a hurricanrana, and follows up with a suicide dive but WALTER catches him on the way down, chopping him before hitting an apron bomb.

WALTER whips Bate into the barricade and kicks him in the head, then WALTER powerbombs Bate into the ring post. Bate is examined by the medical staff, and the match continues. WALTER kicks Bate in the back and knees him a few times, then WALTER targets Bate’s neck before throwing a few forearm shots and applies a sleeperhold. Bate comes back with a clothesline and tries to lift WALTER, but the weight is too much and he collapses on the mat. WALTER goes right back to the forearm shots, then puts Bate in a surfboard stretch and drives his knee into Bate’s back. WALTER ends up throwing some more headbutts, and Bate breaks free and kicks him, but WALTER splashes him for two before WALTER throws some more chops near the corner. WALTER kicks Bate in the corner and taunts him, then WALTER hits some forearm shots and chokes Bate near the turnbuckles.

Bate comes back with an exploder suplex, then throws some European uppercuts and hits a running European uppercut in the corner. WALTER goes for a Boston Crab and a Crossface but Bate avoids submitting, then WALTER chops him and goes for a suplex but Bate throws some more uppercuts and and a knee, then Bate hits a clothesline but WALTER stays on his feet. Bate goes for a few more, but WALTER won’t go down, so Bate hits another exploder suplex and both men go down. Bate hits a SSP for two, then he goes for a Tyler Driver ’97 but WALTER blocks it and connects with a European uppercut. Bate goes for the Driver again but WALTER hits a back body drop, then WALTER dropkicks him into the corner. Bate avoids a power bomb and hits Code Red, then Bate fires back with a forearm shot. WALTER tries to get some space with some punches, but WALTER blocks a superplex attempt with some forearms and chops Bate and sends him back in.

Bate hits some chops and WALTER knocks him down with one big chop, then they continue to trade strikes before WALTER blocks a clothesline and hits an Exploder suplex of his own. Bate makes another comeback and goes for an airplane spin, but WALTER gets to the ropes. WALTER throws some palm strikes and tries to keep Bate down, but Bate ends up hitting a Burning Hammer, only to have WALTER roll outside to escape. WALTER walks into a suicide dive by Bate, then Bate hits a flying crossbody and a German suplex for two. He goes for the Tyler Driver 97 again but WALTER blocks, then Bate bridges up out of a powerbomb and hits Tyler Driver 97 before heading up top. He connects with a corkscrew splash but WALTER kicks out, then WALTER goes right back to the palm strikes and kicks before applying a sleeperhold. Bate tries to fight out so WALTER grapevines him, but Bate eventually makes it to the ropes so WALTER hits him with a few more forearm shots for good measure. WALTER puts him back in the sleeper and Bate gets WALTER onto the apron, so WALTER ends up hitting a suplex on the side of the apron. WALTER hits a splash for two, then he hits a powerbomb but Bate kicks out, so WALTER cracks him with a big clothesline and finally gets the pin.

Winner – WALTER

After the match, Trent Seven and Pete Dunne come to the ring and help Bate up, then embrace with a group hug as the show ends.
