NXT Championship Match: Johnny Gargano (c) vs. Adam Cole
Gargano and Cole trade pin attempts. Cole almost hits the Last Shot. Gargano almost locks in the Gargano Escape. Cole exits the ring. Cole smashes Gargano in the face with an elbow. Cole forces Gargano into the corner. Cole runs into a ranna by Gargano. Gargano and Cole each try to land strikes but neither can connect. Gargano manages to hit the tumbleweed off the apron. Cole misses a leaping enziguri. Gargano double stomps Cole’s arm on the apron. Gargano works over Cole’s injured arm. Gargano puts Cole in a hammerlock cloverleaf. Gargano splashes Cole’s arm. Gargano tries a superplex. Cole drops down and superkicks Gargano’s knee. Gargano hits the match clutching his leg. Cole focuses his assault on Gargano’s leg. Cole missile dropkicks Gargano’s knee. Cole dives off the top into a powerbomb by Gargano. Overhead belly-to-belly by Gargano. Roll through kick by Gargano. Gargano catches Cole with a tornado flatliner. Cole kicks out. Slingshot spear by Gargano. Cole kicks out again! Gargano lights Cole up in the corner with a chop. Gargano sits Cole on the top rope. After a bit of struggling, Gargano knocks Cole off the top. Gargano jumps backward off the top rope. Cole catches Gargano in midair with a backstabber. Enzguri by Cole. Burning hammer into a knee to the face by Cole. Gargano musters up enough energy to kick out at 2.8.
Cole and Gargano trade superkicks. Cole goes to the second rope. Cole leaps right into a superkick. Cole falls out of the ring. Gargano follows Cole. Cole and Gargano superkick each other at the same time. The referee almost counts out both men. Gargano lands the slingshot DDT. Cole kicks out. Gargano counters a chop block into a double stomp to the back of Cole’s head. Cole rolls outside again. Cole enziguris Gargano and hits the Ushigorshi out on the floor. Cole hits a modified Ushigoroshi in the ring. Gargano kicks out. Cole sets up the destroyer. Gargano pulls Cole off the top. Gargano puts Cole in the Gargano Escape. Cole reverses it into the figure four. Gargano turns Cole onto his stomach to reverse the pressure. Cole gets to the ropes. Gargano and Cole beat the hell out of each other, each landing a flurry of strikes. Cole stomps on Gargano’s knee to take control. Gargano hangman DDTs Cole as he is getting back in the ring. Gargano tries a dive but Cole superkicks him in midair. Cole hits the Panama Sunrise out on the floor! Cole drags Gargano back into the ring and only gets a two count.
Cole badmouths Gargano. Cole misses the Last Shot. Cole reverses the Gargano Escape into one of his own. Gargano reverses that and hits the Last Shot! Cole kicks out! Cole and Gargano trade strikes. After multiple superkicks, Gargano reverses rannas Cole. Cole lands on his fee,t hits the ropes and hits the Last Shot. Gargano kicks out again! Cole argues with the referee outside the ring. Gargano dives but Cole moves out of the way. Gargano hits the referee. Cole grabs a chair. Gargano superkicks the chair into Cole’s face. The referee isn’t around to count the fall. Cole waves at the ramp for help. No one comes. Gargano tries to get in the ring but Cole hangman PILEDRIVES Gargano! Gargano kicks out! Cole sets up the Last Shot but Gargano falls to the mat. Cole tries to lift Gargano but Gargano puts Cole in the Gargano Escape. Cole elbows Gargano’s knee to get out of it. Cole hits another Panama Sunrise followed by the Last Shot! Cole wins!
