After Alexa Bliss successfully captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Becky Lynch towards the end of 2016, The Irish Lasskicker was back chasing for the title and after constant interferences from a mysterious figure called “La Luchadora”, Shane McMahon decided that Bliss & Becky needed a steel cage match to prevent interference.
In the first steel cage match in WWE Women’s history and the first women’s main event in the SmackDown history, the two would have an outstanding match that beat any of their prior encounters. However, the steel structure wasn’t enough as it was the set up for another appearance by La Luchadora, who was revealed to be none other than the returning WWE legend Mickie James.
