#3.) Almost re-signed with TNA in 2016
After he finished up with NJPW the night after Wrestle Kingdom 10, it seemed clear that Styles was headed to WWE along with Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and Shinsuke Nakamura. The speculation only furthered when WWE themselves put out an article acknowledging the rumor but not confirming the signings.
However, weeks before the Royal Rumble 2016, TNA themselves stated that Styles agreed to return to his old company along with Gallows & Anderson before being offered a much bigger deal by WWE. However, as it turned out, Styles along with his Bullet Club stablemates (and Nakamura) would sign with the WWE. Dixie Carter herself congratulated Styles.
One can only wonder what would’ve happened had he re-signed with Impact Wrestling. It’s possible that he just teased joining TNA so he could negotiate a better deal from WWE. It all worked out well for him, either way.
