Love it or hate it, McMahon family drama always captured the attention of the WWE Universe. This match was McMahon family drama at its peak. The street fight between father and son saw Mick Foley as the special guest referee.
Thanks to Linda getting a nervous breakdown in the story, Vince would take full control of the WWF, fire Mick Foley as commissioner and have an affair with Trish Stratus and abuse Linda McMahon consistently. The match saw a lot of interference and drama with Trish Stratus brawling with Stephanie McMahon, Trish turning on Vince, Linda getting up from her comatose state to kick Vince in the gonads and to top it all off, Shane debuted his coast-to-coast dropkick.
Vince knew how to get people to hate him and it was the ultimate pay off to see him get it handed to him in a big way.
