It wasn’t going to be any other moment, was it? Seth Rollins hasn’t even reached his peak yet, but it’s going to be very hard for him to top the magical night at Santa Clara.
He had lost the second match on the card to Randy Orton after a solid bout, and when it was time for the main event, the question on everyone’s mind was whether Rollins would cash in his MITB contract. He had held it for up to 10 months at that point and fans were eager for The Architect to become WWE Champion.
It was perhaps due to the fact that Roman Reigns was rejected by the fans after winning the Royal Rumble and earning his spot at the WrestleMania 31 main event against Brock Lesnar that prompted WWE to have Seth Rollins cash-in.
The match between Reigns and Lesnar delivered beyond expectations and the night was made better when Rollins’ music hit, leading to 70,000+ people standing on their feet and erupting in cheers. Rollins would become the first man to ever cash in the MITB contract during WrestleMania and also the first man to ever cash-in mid-match.
He would pin Roman Reigns and stand tall at WrestleMania 31, beginning an incredible six-month title reign.
