However, an unexpected injury to [Mustafa] Ali before the WWE title Elimination Chamber match in 2019 saw Kofi Kingston take his spot and in a gauntlet match prior to the PPV, Kingston stole the show by wrestling for over an hour, winning the hearts of the WWE Universe.
He did the same at Elimination Chamber and suddenly, fans became believers. The love and response that he got led to him earning a well-deserved WWE title shot at WrestleMania – one that saw him become WWE Champion for the first time in his illustrious career.
