If main eventing the second biggest PPV of the year within four months wasn’t big enough, WWE put him in an even bigger spot a year later, putting him in the main event of his very first WrestleMania. It spoke volumes of how much they invested in Lesnar and they really turned him into a huge star in his own right.
He would win the Royal Rumble in 2003 and secure a main event spot against Kurt Angle for the WWE title. In the match itself, he nearly suffered paralysis after a botched shooting star press, but somehow managed to see it through and finish the bout, beating Angle and walking out as WWE Champion.
