In the summer of 2016, a babyface Cesaro was feuding against a heel Sheamus and their grudge feud would lead General Manager Mick Foley to start a “Best of 7” series between them, with the winner getting a guaranteed title shot (never specifying which title). They would be 3-3 heading into their final bout at Clash of Champions and as expected – that would be their best match.
Though it concluded in a No Contest at the end, it was an outstandingly physical contest and it had a “shoot fight” feel to it. It was even the match that led Foley to team the two together that would eventually lead to “The Bar” being formed. They would have a glorious 2+ year run together as a team.
