‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage’s KOTR win was technically in 1987 – a few years before he went by the Macho King moniker. In this situation, it was obvious that the KOTR win was a major stepping stone to his career – which reached new heights in the following years. However, when Jim Duggan won the KOTR title from Haku in 1989, Savage would win it from him and become the Macho King.
A vicious heel, he would take Sensational Sherri by his side and his most notable time as The King was towards the end when he feuded against The Ultimate Warrior. That would result in an epic retirement match where Savage lost, only for Sherri to turn on him and Elizabeth to save him.
