#4.) Triple H – 1997
Nobody can accuse Triple H of not paying his dues. He was set to win the tournament in 1996 but due to the infamous MSG Curtain Call, Triple H was held responsible and punished accordingly. As a result, his push went to ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and that triggered a whole chain of events that led to Austin becoming WWE’s top star.
However, before that happened, a year after Austin’s big win, Triple H finally got his turn. He proved to be royalty of his own as he defeated Mankind in the finals to become King of The Ring. This was before he was The Game or The King of Kings but it was probably the early signs of what was to come.
