#3.) Apollo Crews
Apollo Crews was pushed and viewed as one of WWE’s next big stars. It was easy to believe why on the first glance – he’s athletic, he has the perfect look of a top WWE superstar. NXT was careful in the way they treated him and made sure to push and protect him accordingly. Had he stayed, there was no doubt that he would eventually become an NXT Champion, but as expected, once Vince McMahon got his eyes on Crews, he knew that he wanted him on the main roster.
So right after WrestleMania 32, Crews made an unexpectedly early call-up to the main roster – less than a year after his debut at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. Fans who worried about his treatment on the main roster turned out to be right and he found himself in creative limbo instead.
While he has been a title challenger in the past, it’s safe to assume that he never lived up to his true potential. Had he stayed in NXT, he could have become a much bigger star.
