After Bret Hart won the WWF title, he would face The British Bulldog – a man who was always a World title contender. They also had a history together given that they main evented SummerSlam at Wembley Stadium. This time, however, the prize was a much bigger one. There was no nonsense, no interferences and it was a straight-up clean bout between two elite competitors.
They told a great story given their history together and the Bulldog came closer than he ever had to winning the title. Ultimately, Bret Hart used clever tactics to outsmart and beat Davey Boy Smith, but he made him look like a million bucks even in defeat.
