What made Kenny Omega so special in Japan was that he wasn’t viewed as a “foreigner who integrated”. He was truly viewed as one of their own. Kenny Omega, once a man who requested his release from WWE, eventually made his way over to Japan, where his true potential was realized.
He spent around 6 years in the promotion DDT and crossed over to New Japan Pro Wrestling in 2010 as well. His association with Kota Ibushi as a part of The Golden Lovers was truly a breakout for Omega. When teaming up with and facing Ibushi, he truly realized his potential and would grow rapidly as a performer.
His addition into the Bullet Club and move up to the Heavyweight division saw his stardom reach new heights. He even became the first gaijin to main event Wrestle Kingdom. Inevitably, he became IWGP Heavyweight Champion. He left his mark before departing in 2019. There will likely never be a gaijin with the in-ring prowess of Omega in Japan.
