Hulk Hogan was the biggest investment that WCW ever made in a single superstar. Knowing the starpower he had and the ratings that he could draw, Hogan was offered the most lucrative contract in pro wrestling history – one that still seems absolutely ridiculous for any company to offer.
Apart from just the insane levels of creative control that he had, he also received large cuts from live attendance, merchandise and PPV sales. While that’s normal, it’s ridiculous that Hogan was given millions just to sign his name on the contract. Either way, it’s undeniable that he’s one of the greatest WCW World champions ever. Garnering 6 reigns as WCW World Champion, his total run with the title lasted over 1,100 days.
He was naturally shot right into the title picture upon arrival and Hogan made sure that he was a champion for a good part of his time there. Regardless, one can’t deny the impact that he caused, especially with NWO.
