Simply put, there’s no superstar in WWE history who Vince McMahon is a bigger fan of than Shawn Michaels. Often referred to as the greatest in-ring performer of all time, Michaels’ destiny didn’t seem like it was to reach the heights that he eventually did. If anything, people thought that Marty Jannetty would be the bigger star from The Rockers.
However, Bruce Prichard on his podcast put it plain and simple – nobody wrestled as Michaels did, nobody worked harder than Michaels did and nobody stole the show every night the way Michaels did. While he was never viewed as McMahon’s pick to be a top star – he was absolutely undeniable. When someone is so good, how much can you possibly deny them?
