5 Best “Passing Of The Torch” Moments In WrestleMania History

#4.) Bret Hart vs ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin – WrestleMania 13

This match had no championships on the line. It was a simple submission match with a very straightforward storyline. It’s also highly regarded as one of the greatest matches in WWE history. As you probably know, Bret Hart walked into the match as a babyface, but Austin walked in as a heel. Once the match was over, the roles were switched and Hart was the heel while Austin was the babyface.

It was a brutal affair, with Austin’s face covered in crimson red. He was trapped in the Sharpshooter with nowhere to go, but Austin displayed heart and guts like never before, and the crowd who were previously booing him instantly realized just how tough he truly was, and quickly began to cheer for him as well.

After the match, Hart attacked Austin, cementing his heel turn. It was an absolute move of genius by WWE, one that kickstarted Austin’s incredible rise to the top.
