Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts’ 5 Best Matches

#3.)  vs Randy Savage – Saturday Night’s Main Event – November 1986

Babyfaces were easily cheered and heels were easily booed in the peak of the Golden Era. However, Jake Roberts was one of the few exceptions to this rule. He was a heel in 1986 as he was just about getting started, but the DDT and Roberts himself started getting increasingly over by the week.

It led to an Intercontinental Championship challenge against Randy Savage, who was surprisingly not the fan favourite in this match. WWE assumed that Roberts would get booed against Savage, but he was the clear babyface in the bout. The match ended with a double disqualification, but nevertheless, it was a quick and solid bout with good bits of comedy thrown in as well. It was also a foreshadowing of Roberts’ babyface turn.
