#4.) vs. Rick Rude – Saturday Night’s Main Event – October 1988
One of the most underrated mini-feuds from the late 1980s was the one between Jake Roberts and Rick Rude. Rude had begun his gimmick of picking out women from the crowd to kiss. One of these women happened to be Sheryl, i.e, Roberts’ wife, who refused Rude’s advances.
This led to a feud between the two, and most famously, the segment where Rick Rude sported tight’s with Sheryl’s face on it. Roberts would end up ripping the tights off in one of the most non-PG yet memorable moments of the Golden Era. It culminated in a match, which in itself was fantastic.
However, the only issue came from the fact that the rivalry ended with an indecisive finish, as Bobby Heenan interfered and also brought Andre The Giant in, essentially beginning a new feud for Roberts.
