Between 2011-2017, the Royal Rumble winners were always dissatisfactory to fans. They always felt the wrong person had won the Rumble and always had an alternate superstar who they would have preferred in the spot instead. Moreover, there was a period where the Rumble was being dominated by part-timers and superstars who weren’t in their prime anymore.
However, all that changed in 2018 when Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka won the Royal Rumble matches. This year, the winners were Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, and fans couldn’t be happier. This is the exact definition of “giving the fans what they want”, and Becky Lynch especially looked like a million bucks, coming off a loss and then taking Lana’s spot at the Rumble.
She would go through a major struggle before finally securing the victory. Rollins himself was out of the match for a period of time after being attacked by Bobby Lashley.
