If you’ve seen the documentary Beyond The Mat, then you’re probably well aware of this match. If you ever wondered why WWE has banned chair shots to the head, look no further than this match. Foley was defending the WWF title against The Corporation’s golden boy – The Rock. It was a brutal “I Quit” match that saw Foley take a shocking 11 consecutive unprotected chair shots to the head.
To make matters worse, Foley’s family was seated ringside and witnessed him getting obliterated. Why The Rock was given permission to smack him on the head eleven times, no one knows. But if anything, it’s proven that it’s a good decision WWE made to ban chair shots.
