#1.) AJ Styles vs John Cena – Royal Rumble 2017
In hindsight, the John Cena-AJ Styles trilogy may be looked at as one of the greatest match trilogies of all time. AJ Styles was just one year into his WWE career and he was already defending the title against the former franchise player John Cena. They had two classics at Money In The Bank and SummerSlam 2016, stealing the show on both occasions.
Styles had won the first two encounters and Cena looked for redemption along with his 16th world title. They would have an absolute classic that required no stipulations and no outside interferences and certainly no weapons. In fact, their match was so masterfully crafted that neither competitor went out of the ring even once!
The crowd of 52,000 was pro-Styles, but when it was all said and done, they couldn’t help but give Cena a standing ovation for his victory. It was a historic moment in the Alamodome and it’s going to be hard to top that.
