#1.) vs Kota Ibushi – Cruiserweight Classic 2016
Kota Ibushi may not have signed with WWE, but he was by and far the best competitor in the Cruiserweight Classic. On his incredible run in the tournament, he was put up against Cedric Alexander, who was also a Full Sail University crowd favorite. The match had everything you could possibly want and is the very definition of a world-class Cruiserweight match.
Alexander nearly put away Ibushi, but the experience and athleticism of The Golden Star proved too much for Alexander, who was eliminated from the tournament. After the match, Alexander was left in tears, thankful to the Full Sail crowd. The crowd chanted “Please sign Cedric” in unison, and Triple H came out and endorsed Alexander, giving the crowd a simple “Ok” nod. He was offered the contract, and the rest is history.
