#2.) vs Buddy Murphy – Super Show-Down 2018
If there’s any match that showcases the importance of protecting a finisher, this is it. Cedric Alexander was the guy on 205 Live in 2018 and there was no question about it. He was undefeated throughout 2018 and his confidence grew stronger with each title defence. 181 days in, he was once again put up against Buddy Murphy, but the circumstances were different.
It was in Murphy’s hometown of Melbourne, Australia and it was in front of 70,000 people. Alexander wasn’t used to getting booed, and Murphy, despite being the heel was the obvious fan favorite. The two performers put absolutely everything on the line and were even in almost every aspect of it. It was fast paced, it was intense and it was close as ever, with multiple near falls. Murphy became the first person to kick out of the lumbar check in over a year, and from there on, Alexander lost focus and confidence. Murphy would dethrone him to win the Cruiserweight title in the greatest moment of his career.
