The Cruiserweight tournament in 2018 saw a fresh start of the division after the fiasco caused by the previous champion who we’d rather not mention. Roderick Strong was briefly called-up to compete in the tournament and he proved to be one of the biggest threats in the tournament, despite not officially being a part of the division.
There was no one with more momentum than Alexander and at the semi-finals of the tournament, he faced the threat of Strong. Unsurprisingly, they had the best match of the whole tournament in what was an absolutely hard-hitting and fast-paced affair. Roderick Strong came close many times, but Alexander just wanted it more, and that took him to the finals and an eventual Cruiserweight title victory at the grandest stage.
