Batista’s Top 5 WWE Matches

2. Batista vs. Triple H (WWE Vengeance 2005)

This is Batista’s definitive performance in my eyes. If you have not seen this 2005 Hell In A Cell match, you need to check it out on the WWE Network. This was a different time, and you will see everything from a barbed wire wrapped steel chair to Triple H literally trying to hang Batista with a chain. It was absolutely brutal as Cell matches used to be in those days and it was there that I felt like Batista could be a major star, because at the time these violent matches were a huge part of major feuds and if you could put on a good one of those, then to me that said you could be the main event star for a long time. I share that because I think it’s important to put into perspective how much things have changed in relation to gimmick matches and the kind of matches that make people look like real Superstars today.

Batista defeated Triple H in this third and final bout from their 2005 trilogy. In fact, Batista defeated Triple H every time they competed. After this match, Triple H went away for a few months. This was Hunter’s first defeat in a Hell in a Cell match and it once again went the long way and establishing Batista as the kind of man who can handle anything including what I’m going to talk about in my number one selection.
