#1.) vs John Cena – Money In The Bank 2011
There’s a saying about wrestling – that when it’s good, it’s really good and there’s nothing like it. John Cena and CM Punk’s feud and match in 2011 examplifies that in every possible way. From the build of the storyline starting with the Pipebomb to the involvement of Mr McMahon, to the fact that it was an anti-authority persona vs the company golden boy to the fact that CM Punk threatened to walk out of WWE with the WWE Championship (his contract was legitimately expiring at Money In The Bank 2011) to the fact that it was in Punk’s hometown of Chicago made it one of the most special build ups and matches in WWE history.
Chicago gave Punk a response like no other that night and just listening to Punk soak in the crowd’s reaction is something else. This match was pro wrestling drama and intensity at its finest and the crowd made the match. The final shot of CM Punk blowing Vince McMahon a kiss and running away through the crowd with the WWE title will go down as one of the most iconic moments in the company’s history.
