#4.) Attacking Neville and entering the Cruiserweight Division
It’s not often that an injury has turned into a blessing in disguise, but for Austin Aries, his orbital bone fracture in 2016 certainly was. It allowed him to transition into commentary for the new show on the block – 205 Live. It allowed him to show a lot of personality and fans were waiting for the moment when he would return from injury.
In an interview with Neville, he hinted that he was the one who could beat him and The King Of The Cruiserweights seemed furious at the suggestion. The crowd reacting positively to Aries was a great sign and it made the segment what it was. Aries finally took off his sunglasses and that’s when fans knew that it was about to go down.
Aries attacked Neville, receiving a huge pop and officially entering the Cruiserweight Division. He beat four other members of the division to earn a #1 contenders spot against Neville at WrestleMania. It’s a shame that it was never capitalized on.
