1. The Undertaker
The “Dead Man” is truly a one-of-a kind menacing figure and is arguably the greatest gimmick character ever created in the history of wrestling.
Originally, he was truly an “undertaker” like in the Old West days donning a black brimmed cap while showcase a pale, expressionless face. He didn’t say anything — he left that to his manager Paul Bearer — but his cold stare from his dead eyes always left a frightening message.
While The Undertaker underwent changes over the years, maybe his scariest was in the late 1990’s when he led The Ministry, a cult-like group that included Gangrel and Viscera, who carried out truly vile acts including hanging the Big Bossman and crucifying “Stone Cold” Steve Austin.
Over time, his act was toned down and the “Dead Man” character returned to the applause that his legendary status earned. Still to this day, his entrance can send a chill down your back and he strikes at your soul when his eyes roll into the back of his head as he leave you with three ominous words: Rest in Peace.
