The 365-day cycle of wrestling schedules in big companies makes it easy for any superstar to get burned out. It’s not at all uncommon to see the addiction to alcohol and painkillers as a result of this. Sting, being on the road almost 340 days a year. Though Sting’s professional career got stronger and his popularity grew by the year, his personal life seemed to have the opposite effects.

He suffered from alcohol and pill addiction and it affected his first marriage. It was only in 1998 when he decided to take action, confessing all his sins and becoming a born-again Christian. This was the turning point of his life and he stated that there was no 12-step recovery process. He simply went cold turkey.
