It’s very difficult not to put Steamboat in rank one, but the sole reason Dusty Rhodes stands as his greatest rivals were the extent of how different the two characters were. Everything they stood for was different and their personalities were completely opposite.
Flair was the rich, kiss-stealing, limousine riding, jet-flying ladies man while Dusty Rhodes represented the hard-working common man. Their feud had a classic, old-school heel-babyface dynamic to it that saw Flair gain an unreal amount of heat, to the point that the audience were on the verge of rioting.
They would main event Starrcade in 1984 and 1985. Flair mostly got the better of the rivalry as he revealed that Dusty Rhodes wasn’t a big fan of being world champion. The promos and matches were nothing short of magic.
