Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat had the most incredible trilogy of matches in pro wrestling history. Steamboat dethroned Flair to become NWA World Champion in an epic bout and their rematch would be a 2-out-of-3 falls match, where Steamboat won in controversial fashion.
The conclusion of the bout saw one of the greatest and most emotional matches of all time, with the crowd rallying behind Flair despite Steamboat being the beloved babyface. The two proved to be nearly evenly matched, with Flair winning only by the skin of his teeth. The feud did so much to change the perception of both wrestlers and Flair naturally turned babyface in the process.
It was a feud about two opposite characters coming into the ring and proving what warriors they were. It’s a must-watch trilogy of matches.
