#5.) When Ric Flair saved Starrcade 93 by putting his career on the line
So the backstory to this is quite interesting. WCW decided that they wanted to push Sid Vicious as their next top babyface (That’s right). He was scheduled to be a part of the main event, taking on Vader for the WCW World title (and presumably winning it). They were so invested in him that they went as far as to tape months worth of footage with him as world champion!
Unfortunately, a drunken night in the United Kingdom saw a fight break out between Vicious and Arn Anderson, where the former tried to stab Anderson with a pair of safety scissors.
As you can imagine, this didn’t go well with the WCW backstage officials. Despite not treating Flair right on multiple occasions, they went to him as they also did on many occasions. With all the taped footage going to waste, they chose a new direction, where Flair put his career on the line in a match against Vader. Flair would win the title and it seemed to work out better for everyone, except for Sid, i.e.
