On Lilian Garcia’s podcast, Carmella revealed that it was WWE commentator Byron Saxton who helped her develop her character. Her initial plan was to be an Italian Mob Wife and to be billed from Boston, her hometown. However, Bryon Saxton had suggested that she be billed from Staten Island instead as Sasha Banks was already billed from Boston.
He even gave her subtle pointers like always looking at her nails among other small traits. It’s interesting that Saxton worked directly with Carmella to help develop her character. Imagine how things would have been if he hadn’t! We may never have had The Princess Of Staten Island.
