Mysterio hadn’t gotten over Guerrero’s death and it was used in a storyline where he won the Royal Rumble match in 2006. He lost the WrestleMania world title opportunity to Randy Orton (who cheated to win), but was inserted in the world heavyweight title match against both Randy Orton and defending champion Kurt Angle.
The three had a quick but incredible match that saw non-stop action from start to finish. As you can imagine, Mysterio was the fan-favorite and fans desperately wanted to see Mysterio have his moment and do it for Eddie. And that’s exactly what happened. Mysterio would pin Randy Orton to win his first World title .
It was one of the best feel-good moments in WrestleMania history and certainly won for the books. He did it for Eddie Guerrero.
