#3.) Winning the Gargano feud
By the time Royal Rumble weekend had ended, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano became the single hottest feud in all of WWE. The interest only skyrocketed after their epic match at NXT Takeover: New Orleans where Gargano defeated Ciampa.
Ciampa would win their rematch in the second edition of NXT Takeover: Chicago and the final bout was set for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV in a Last Man Standing match for the NXT Championship. The match saw the two try to end one another’s careers. Gargano began to show a darker side of himself and that would end up costing him in one of the most unique match finishes that one can see.
It was a huge notch in the belt for Ciampa to defeat Gargano and end their rivalry. It further validated his reign as NXT Champion.
