#4.) His initial WWF run as Dustin Rhodes
Goldust the character may have debuted in 1995, but Dustin Runnels certainly did not. He had a very brief spell between 1990-991 where he debuted as Dustin Rhodes, aligning with his father Dusty. He would feud with Ted Dibiase and Virgil. He teamed up with his father in an unsuccessful attempt against Dibiase and Virgil at Royal Rumble 1991.
Both he and his father left soon after. Interestingly enough, it was Dusty Rhodes who convinced his son to leave the company even though he didn’t really want to. Despite this, Vince McMahon thought quite highly of Dustin. There’s little doubt that had he stayed, he would have become a huge star.
Things were quite different when he returned four years later.
