It was WrestleMania 22 and an incredible rivalry between Mickie James and Trish Stratus culminated at the Grandest Stage Of Them All. The two would have an outstanding performance, having an all-time classic. Though the finish was preceded by a bizarre moment, the match itself exceeded any expectations.
Mickie James defeated Trish Stratus to capture her first Women’s Championship. It was the passing of the torch as Stratus would slowly phase out in the months to come. Her and Lita would both retire later that year. It was James who carried on, winning many more titles.
