One of DDP’s trademarks was his famous Diamond Cutter hand gesture signal. It had become iconic and a part of his identity for years. Jay-Z began to use the very same hand gesture, with it even appearing on one of his albums. When DDP realized that he wasn’t paying homage to him, he decided to protect himself and sued Jay-Z and Roc-a-Fella records in 2005.
The battle never went to court as Jay-Z settled things outside. He paid DDP an unknown amount around 2007 and matters were quietly put to rest.
