A War of Words For The Ages
Shots were fired. Daggers thrown. John Cena and Roman Reigns got heated and personal in one of the best in-ring promos I have ever heard.
- Reigns said Cena is not as big of a deal as he thinks he is. Reigns talked about beating and retiring Undertaker, but Cena said Reigns might call himself the big dog, but not too many fans believe it.
- He says Reigns isn’t facing a beat up old veteran in his twilight, and Cena is in the best shape of his life.
- Cena gets on Reigns about pausing during a promo and tells him to take his time, because he’ll need to learn to cut one if he wants to be the big dog.
- Reigns called Cena a fake b*tch, then said he’s a part time fake ass b*tch, and he’s sick of busting his ass while Cena goes on the Today show. Reigns talks about the ‘golden shovel’ and Cena burying talent, but Cena doesn’t like him because he can’t bury Reigns and can’t see him.
- Reigns continues about being his own person, but Cena says Reigns finally cut a good promo after five years, but now he will break him down. Cena says the fans control what happens here and he doesn’t hold anyone down.
- He hasn’t main evented Wrestlemania in five years, and he was proud of being United States Champion while Reigns sees it as a demotion.
- Cena says Reigns can blame him, but he also blames Reigns because the main reason he’s still here is because Roman can’t do his job.
- Cena says Reigns should be embarassed because he (Cena) does this better part-time than Reigns can all year.
Thanks to our wonderful WZ Live Coverage for that, but these words show you that WWE gave them full freedom to shoot from the hip, say what fans think and believe and thrive off of their first real interaction in the ring. This was an excellent showcasing of what Roman Reigns is and who he should aim to be, while John Cena cuts a promo better than anyone else in the company. They are so smart to use the thoughts and ideas from fans to get heat, get the crowd involved and add a personal touch to it. That is why this was so magical and special. Everything about this promo was perfect. Move over, 5 star Meltzer. This promo stole the show and stole the year.
Many fans would complain about the tag team match after these words, but the interaction between both men and the ability to basically mirror each other was smooth and made sense. Hell, Anderson and Gallows worked a solid match with the top two guys in the company. That is what good brothers do. Reigns’ Spear and Cena’s AA is just showcasing that both men want to show the other up any time they can.
Elias Knocks out Southpaw’s own
Heath Slater comes out as his Southpaw Regional Wrestling gimmick and ends up getting beaten down by Elias. A nice song, great crowd heat and a pair of sunglasses to keep him fresh. His future is bright and tonight was nothing special, but still kept him in our minds later in the night. Two segments for Elias in one night is perfectly fine with me, even if nobody cared about this.
