Nia Jax and Elias Squash
Elias and Nia Jax picked up easy wins on WWE RAW in a very odd sequence of segments. Not that I dislike all of this, but two segments of squashes does not help a show that struggles to maintain viewers over three hours. Elias is solid, the guy knows what to say and his early work with Finn Balor showed that he knows how to get a reaction and how to work a match. The future is bright for him.
Nia Jax is so good, but limited in how she is booked. If Nia is not champion by the end of the year, I am not sure what to make of it. Yes, she is still very new on the roster, but it is ridiculous to think that she has not gotten a one on one championship match on Pay-Per-View. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to book believable feuds with her.
Cruiserweight Action
Eight man tag team match featured some of the Cruiserweights that we do not see as much on WWE RAW. Cedric Alexander, Rich Swann, Gran Metalik and Mustafa Ali defeated Drew Gulak, Tony Nese, Noam Dar and Ariya Daivari in a decent match. The only problem is who the fans should care about. My first thought would be Cedric Alexander. He is a gifted athlete and seems like an easy guy to cheer for. He reminds me of what made Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin good. He possesses qualities of both guys, combining technicality and agility.
There is not enough time for these guys to connect with the crowd. Also, the crowd views them as “restroom” breaks and it is seen and heard each week. I am not sure they have a solution to fixing this. Other than Alexander in this match, the only guy that sticks out in my mind is Rich Swann. He already became champion and was beaten easily by Neville. Without Neville, this division stays meaningless.
