Isenberg Reacts: WWE Smackdown Live “Three Main Event Matches Made For SummerSlam”

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. John Cena

A main event made for major Pay-Per-Views took place on Smackdown Live and did not disappoint. John Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura did battle in the main event, with Cena really controlling the pace early on. Both men would exchange submission moves and John Cena hit a few shoulder blocks. He locked in a STF, but the King of Strong Style (Yes, I am still calling him this) battled out. Nakamura locked in a triangle choke, but Cena powered himself up and connected with an Attitude Adjustment. He rolled through and set him up for another, but Nakamaura elbowed him and planted Cena on his head with a dirty Reverse Exploder. Shinsuke set up for the Kinsasha and punched his ticket to face Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

This was 100 percent the right call tonight. A clean win, with no distractions or miscommunication. Shinsuke Nakamura gets his shot at the WWE Championship and I am excited to see how he and Jinder Mahal make this work over the next few weeks. Nakamura SHOULD beat Mahal, but it won’t end the show and The Singh Brothers could easily screw him out of that opportunity. Shinsuke in Brooklyn = Money.

Also, John Cena looks to pair off against Baron Corbin st SummerSlam. I am all for this, especially if he is planning to move to WWE RAW after it. Smackdown Live, top to bottom, accomplished so many things and below is the rumored card with some confirmed matches for SummerSlam (Smackdown Live only).

WZ 8

WWE Championship: Jinder Mahal vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

United States Championship: AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens (Shane McMahon as Special Referee)

Smackdown Tag Team Championship: The New Day vs. The Uso’s

Smackdown Women’s Championship: Naomi vs. Natalya

Randy Orton vs. Rusev

John Cena vs. Baron Corbin

*This is a strong card from Team Blue heading into SummerSlam, with a nice combination of youth and veteran presence. I expect 1-2 more Smackdown matches for SummerSlam Kick-off show.*
