Drew McIntyre is Number One Contender
Drew and Killian Dain exchanged blows back and forth, topped off by Dain dropping McIntyre with a fisherman superplex. McIntyre would kick out and begin to stomp away at Dain. He hit the Future Shock DDT and Dain kicked out at one. Drew looked shocked. He hit a Claymore kick, but Dain slowly got up before he could make a cover. Drew had to hit him again, putting down the big man and earning a shot at the NXT Championship and Bobby Roode at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn.
Drew is the best option for Bobby Roode. He looks incredible in the ring, combining a strong physical attack while adding athletic kicks and moves to throw his opponents off guard. Killian Dain proved that he has a bright future ahead of him by keeping up and really thriving in the main event. I love Eric Young, but Dain might be his golden goose by the time they get to the main roster.
As for Roode vs. MyIntyre, this is going to be one hell of a match and I really hope they give them the next month to make it more about undefeated streaks. Both men have such a deep background and success, it should be spotlighted that Drew failed before in WWE (not really, but Bobby can spin it like that) and Bobby is the champion. Give us more highlights and history about Drew’s first run. That can make him the clear cut face in a month.
