The first half hour of WWE RAW focused on Bray Wyatt vs. Roman Reigns, two men who were booked very well at Extreme Rules to look strong, but come up short. The match was typical and what I expected, with Wyatt really leading the way physically and mentally. He was able to get his offense in, which included a great running splash on the outside to “The Big Dog.” Later in the match, Wyatt was in full control until Reigns reversed his Sister Abigail into a Samoan Drop. All of this match, close to 20 minutes, set up for a Superman Punch and a Spear to end Wyatt in the ring.

You have to admit that these guys have battled back and forth for so long, yet their matches are always really good. The combination of how Wyatt can mentally get in the mind of his opponent and the fast physicality from Reigns seems to always deliver a high quality match. Reigns throws some of the best punches in the game, while Wyatt continues to be a guy that feels important and loses more than he wins. I want more from Wyatt, but they are stern on reestablishing Roman Reigns after a loss. He gets more reaction and sells more merch than Bray. It is as simple as that right now.

Dean Ambrose, The Miz and Elias Samson

It started with Dean Ambrose attacking Elias Samson before their match began. The Lunatic Fringe wanted his rematch tonight, but it was a celebration for The Miz instead. Elias would come into the ring and hit his finisher on the former champion, walking slowly away. Later in the night, we were able to celebrate The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship Comeback Tour. A dancing bear started the chaos, as neither Maryse or Miz hired him. They thought it was Ambrose, but nope. A large box that looked big enough to hold Ambrose came out and Miz went ballistic on it. It turns out Maryse bought him a grandfather clock and he ruined it. She ran off and a camerman undressed and Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds onto The Miz.

As much as this was just average, The Miz and Maryse still executed it very well. I thought that The Miz would be doing something bigger. I would have loved to see a video screen with highlights of his career and then low lights of Dean Ambrose, really rubbing in his victory. This was miles better than Alexa’s attempt last week, but it still did not do enough for me. I wanted more creativity and drama, more suspense to see where Dean Ambrose would pop out of. It was too predictable.
