Triple Threat Match
Samoa Joe, Bray Wyatt and Finn Balor competed in a Triple Threat Match on WWE RAW, which is 6 days away from their big contender’s match at Extreme Rules. A great match all around, with all three men showcasing their strengths. Finn Balor is so precise and consistent in his attacks, always utilizing his lower body and kicking skills. With Bray Wyatt, he teamed with Samoa Joe and took out the leader of the Balor Club until he turned his tide and hit Joe with a big clotheslines. A combination of power slams and spinning heel kicks really help Samoa Joe stand out from the other two in this match.
I love Finn Balor, but he looked so small compared to Joe and Wyatt. I am not bashing Balor and think there are smart ways to book him possibly beating other guys who might be 75-100 pounds heavier. It is tricky. Yes, Daniel Bryan beat bigger guys like Triple H and Batista. He is also 215 pounds and his storyline was so natural and organic. Finn is pushing 195.
CM Punk faced The Undertaker and he was only about 210 pounds. The story of the match helped him be believable in beating The Undertaker, much like Shawn Michaels in the past. There are ways to book Finn Balor for long-term success. Putting him in the ring every single week with guys pushing 300 pounds isn’t the best way. I try to suspend my belief as much as possible.
I want to see Balor back as Universal Champion, but not necessarily by beating Brock Lesnar. I think a guy like Samoa Joe gets a much better rub on the main roster by getting that win. Balor and Joe was a great NXT feud and would be something I would enjoy on the main roster. Finn needs to be booked for success, not losing on a weekly basis. His debut on the main roster featured him picking up wins against big names. What has Samoa Joe’s big win been aside from WWE RAW tonight? Give Joe more of a chance and give me Balor vs. Rollins at SummerSlam. Everything should come full circle for those two guys, who have walked a similar path in terms of injury and improvement upon return.
What To Make of Sasha Banks
At the side of Rich Swann, she helped distract Noam Dar and Swann picked up the win with a beautiful Falcon Arrow splash from the top rope. Sasha tripped up Alicia and then threw her into the apron. Many people are wondering what is going on with Sasha Banks. I think these next 1-2 months are just going to test her patience. There is still so much money that could be made in Sasha vs. Bayley and Sasha vs. Alexa. They are waiting for the perfect time and are giving her a side story to work with. I do not hate it, but I do understand the frustration from the fans. Everyone always wants the best at the top and in the best storylines. She is too talented to be stuck in this role for longer than a few months.
Cheat to Win
Titus O’Neil picked up a win over Kalisto on WWE RAW in very fast fashion. He grabbed the tights of Kalisto for the win and brags to Apollo Crews. Another week and another lackadaisical script for a very low card feud. No importance, no intrigue and no interest from me.
