Jinder Mahal, Baron Corbin and Kevin Owens faced off against Randy Orton, Sami Zayn and AJ Styles. The action was fast-paced and intense heading into the final moments of the match. Big move after big move, including AJ Styles unloading kicks and punching combinations, Sami Zayn hitting a Swanton Bomb to the outside, Kevin Owens with a massive Superkick and Randy Orton with an RKO. You thought the match would be over, but Jinder Mahal came in and hit his finisher on the champion to pick up the win.

First off, I would have Jinder Mahal use the Cobra Clutch as a submission move and  not the slam for his finisher. Let him choke his opponents out, not have to use an average slam to pick up the win. He is holding his own and sounds/looks great in and out of the ring. I want to see what he has to say next and that is a positive step in the right direction to potentially keep him in this status long term. For Baron and Sami, it is a great feud for both men. The only issue is both men are coming off losses and could desperately use a win on Pay-Per-View.

As for Kevin Owens and AJ Styles, WWE Backlash will not be their last match against one another for that title. This has the potential to be John Cena vs. Kevin Owens from a few years ago. Give them 3-4 matches, even if stipulations have to be involved. I do believe that these guys can carry Smackdown Live on a weekly basis. They have so much potential together to create something excellent and compelling. Hopefully, we get a chance to see how this can unfold. “The Face of America” vs. “The Face that Runs The Place.”

A fun main event and three feuds enhanced. I say this was the biggest success of the night on Smackdown Live.
