Dolph Ziggler vs. Apollo Crews
When was the last time Apollo Crews picked up a win on Smackdown Live? It happened tonight in a quick, yet physical match. He was able to stop Dolph Ziggler from hitting a superkick and rolled him up for the win. When Ziggler attacked Crews after the match, Kalisto tried to make the save. It ended up badly for him and Apollo, with vicious chair shots to each men to end the segment.
Again, Dolph Ziggler deserves a really good storyline, not this. He will fight in a Handicap Match at WWE Elimination Chamber. Why? What is the point of a 2-on-1 match where Dolph Ziggler will ultimately win? He has lost a few times to Kalisto and now to Crews in singles action on Smackdown Live. We are supposed to forget that and think he will beat BOTH of them now? I mean, he will, but it’s illogical to book. I want the best for Ziggler, not the absolute average. You should too, especially since we know how good of a heel he can be and how talented in the ring he is. If Apollo Crews was booked better, this could have been really fun to watch.
Dual Contract Signing
Alexa Bliss, Mickie James, Naomi and Becky Lynch sign their contracts for Sunday at Elimination Chamber. Mickie talks about the younger women trying to take away her accomplishments, as well as coming back to prove she is one of the best ever. Alexa talks about being champion, Becky disses Alexa and Mickie and Naomi wants to be Smackdown Live Women’s Champion in her hometown of Orlando during WrestleMania. The signing ends in a brawl with the faces getting the last laugh.
Well, we have three women’s matches on Sunday. I wonder if this is a good thing or a bad thing. You can see the lack of storyline progression AND how this Pay-Per-View should have happened in 2-3 weeks from Sunday, not 2 weeks after the Royal Rumble. Luckily, the Chamber match is fun to watch, but the three women’s matches on the main card might be pushing it. I like all of the storylines, but it is going to slow down the card a bit. Nothing against the talented women, but it makes it difficult to book three hours when these women’s matches usually last between 7-12 minutes.
Tag Team Turmoil Continues
American Alpha, Breezango and Heath Slater/Rhyno took on The Vaudevillians, The Ascension and The Uso’s in a crowded tag team match. Surprisingly enough, Viktor picked up the win for his team. Yes, a member of The Ascension picked up a win on Smackdown Live. Surprising to say the least, as WWE is at least trying to make it seem like someone will beat American Alpha. The only team on their level is an established Jimmy and Jey Uso. I love their heel gimmick and new gear, but do we need to see more tag teams make an attempt at dethroning American Alpha?
WWE Elimination Chamber will feature Chad Gable and Jason Jordan beating every team on the roster. Hopefully, this sets up a debut or return of some sort. This division is not clicking with anyone right now and you can feel it on a weekly basis.
