Bobby Roode or Shinsuke Nakamura
Take your pick. Who should be the number one guy in NXT? It is hard to compare the two because of how different they are, but I think both men carry NXT for the next 4-6 months, really developing more of Shinsuke outside of the ring and Bobby Roode inside. This will be the main event of NXT Takeover: San Antonio. Enjoy it while it lasts, because I am not sure that WWE wants to use both of these men for that long. It will be interesting to see if Triple H really means what he says about NXT and being called up not being what it used to be. I doubt that, especially when the real money is on Monday and Tuesday nights.
Was it rushed to see Bobby vs. Shinsuke in January? Possibly, but there is no better option. There is nobody else that should fight for the championship to kick off 2017 and I fully expect this match to end in a way where there will be an even bigger and more important match in Orlando. Nakamura has one loss under his belt, while Roode is still perfect. “I believe the word you’re looking for is glorious, Tom!”
