WWE World Championship Triple Threat Match

wwe smackdown live

The main event of Smackdown Live was AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin. Results via WZ Live Coverage:

Styles and Ziggler try to isolate Corbin, then we see Corbin knee Styles in the ribs before Styles returns with some chops. Corbin teases End of Days but Ziggler superkicks him, then Ziggler goes for a suplex but Styles blocks and he ends up trading punches with Ziggler. Corbin runs in and clotheslines then both, then he stomps Ziggler in the corner and throws him across the ring. Corbin goes for End of Days again but Styles blocks it, then Corbin slams him into the turnbuckles and whips Ziggler into him. Corbin goes for a splash but Ziggler elbows him, then Styles catches him with a boot before Corbin catches Ziggler with a lariat and Styles with a STO. We get back from a break to see Corbin on the attack in the corner, then Styles and Ziggler team up to send him outside. Corbin whips Styles into the barricade, then he knocks Ziggler on the floor and starts taking the commentary table apart. Corbin tries to go back on offense but Styles connects with a shot before Ziggler superkicks him on the table, then they both hit a double elbow drop on Corbin through the table.

Ziggler connects with a DDT on Styles for a close two count, then Styles connects with some strikes before attempting a Styles Clash. Ziggler backdrops Styles but Styles lands on the apron, then Ziggler kicks out of a rollup and superkicks Styles for two. Corbin crawls back in the ring after the pin attempt, then Ziggler tries to attack him but Corbin catches him with Deep Six for a near fall. Styles gets back into it but Corbin sets up End of Days, only to have Ziggler simultaneously hit Corbin a Zig Zag on the way down.

Ziggler gets a two count before Corbin slams him shoulder first into the turnbuckles, then he sets up on the turnbuckles. Corbin struggles with Ziggler in the corner before sending him to the mat, then Corbin hits Ziggler with End of Days and Styles leaps back in and surprises him with a Phenomenal Forearm for the win.
From the huge night from Baron Corbin, where he showed he can hang with two of the best, to the double team moves from Styles and Dolph Ziggler, this was a spectacular main event. I loved it. AJ Styles seems to always be in great matches and tonight was no different. When Baron Corbin began to dominate, the crowd was very receptive. The guy is a natural heel and fights like one. We know what to expect from the other two, but the addition of Corbin was a genius idea. It completely changes the game for heels on Smackdown. A flying forearm ended the night for the champion and he will move on to face John Cena. Remember their match at SummerSlam? That is a top 5 match of 2016 and now a title is on the line. How can you hate this booking decision? Smackdown Live delivered in every segment tonight, with three developed and length matches and a few backstage segments to split them up. Four major feuds highlighted, with the blue brand completely dominating the red show this week.
Also, I am still trying to figure out the “Wild Card Finals” name.
